MWI (Micro Wave Imager) and ICI (Ice Cloud Imager) are two major instruments of the MetOp SG mission launched jointly by ESA and EUMETSAT. Both instruments will fly on each of the 3 SAT-B variants developed under overall Prime contractors of Airbus DS GmbH (Ge). In both cases, Sonaca’s contribution is the Instrument platform, with Airbus DS (F) and Airbus DS (Spain) as Primes respectively. Both platforms are mainly build of CFRP sandwich parts (2D and 3D), and involve very high dimensional tolerances for both the fixed and rotating (33 RPM) parts.
