Sonaca becomes a strategic supplier for Wisk Aero, a leading Advanced Air Mobility company. Sonaca will develop and supply major components for Wisk’s 6th Generation autonomous air taxi.  For Sonaca, this is a major step forward in its diversification strategy while confirming its position as a leading major structure supplier.

Sonaca will develop and produce major primary structural assemblies of Wisk’s Gen 6 aircraft. Sonaca also previously supported the design phase of these components. Sonaca will rely on its global footprint to manufacture and supply parts leveraging its best-in-class facilities from Belgium, Brazil, Romania and the United States.

I’m really glad to see our team contributing in defining a new sustainable future for urban air mobility. After ambitious new contracts in the aerostructure, space and defense sectors, Sonaca is again at a crossroad in its history", is delighted Yves Delatte, CEO of Sonaca Group. He also points out that it is thanks to Wallonia's long-standing support in research and innovation that Sonaca remains a leader in this type of cutting-edge technology.

“Sonaca is a leader in development and manufacturing of aircraft systems and has been an outstanding partner in our Gen 6 aircraft program,” said Brian Yutko, CEO of Wisk. “At Wisk, we’re doing something that has never been done before: certifying an autonomous, battery electric aircraft for commercial passenger use. Sonaca’s capabilities have been key in helping us to achieve that mission by partnering in the development of critical structures for our aircraft.

Over the last two years, Sonaca has embarked on a challenging diversification strategy. Through its support of Wisk, Sonaca continues to advance its position as an aerospace industry leader. With this game changer technology, Sonaca takes another step to building tomorrow’s sustainable aviation.
